Effective Communication and the Power of Challenging Conversations

One of the key and recurring themes from Australia’s longest running survey of Family Businesses relates to the need for more effective communication in not only building high performing teams in our business, balancing the needs of the family and the business, obtaining alignment on the business’s strategy and how family members can participate and be recognized. In order to achieve this, leaders need to be able to have effective and constructive conversations which are, more often than not, uncomfortable and have far reaching consequences in the business and at home. 

Presented in conjunction with KPMG Enterprise, this session will explore tools and experiences in enabling to have more constructive conversations.

Conversationalist – Philip Pryor

Philip is an FBA Forum Facilitator, a strategic advisor, executive coach and trainer. He specialises in dealing with particularly challenging issues involving conflict, dysfunctional teams and difficult transitions and applies strong business expertise and a deep knowledge of psychology, change leadership and negotiation to executive coaching. Philip gained his MSW in Psychotherapy from Delphi University in New York and his Bachelor in Psychology from Otago University in New Zealand. He worked with Dr. James Wilk in the UK and studied systems theory and cybernetics, the philosophy of change and linguistics. He has worked in Switzerland for IMD as a coach and is an adjunct faculty member with the Australian Graduate School of Management.
