Mixing corporate experience and a university education with family business values, Lance Stringer has rescued and then grown their 32 year old family business of pet cremation.

Lance bought the business from his founding father in 2002 and has grown it from a one man show in decline, to now operating interstate in 5 locations with a team of 35 people. The group has become the largest family owned service of its type in Australia and Lance has been an enthusiastic member of FBA forum groups both in WA and Victoria since 2008

R.C Sadleirs Pty Ltd

A qualified civil engineer, Steve Samson has enjoyed a varied career in the public sector with the WA State Government and in education, prior to becoming a director of his family firm, RC Sadleirs Pty Ltd. Better known to FBA members as Sadliers Logistics, the company encompasses, among others, Lionel Samson and Son Pty Ltd, Plantagenet Wines Pty Ltd and the transport arm.

He is a member of the AICD and sits on the board of FBA as the Deputy Chair.


Donella Caspersz
University of Western Australia

Donella is a lecturer at the UWA Business School in management and industrial relations. She has managed research into the role of non-family employees in the management of family business, and strategic planning by Indonesian family business. More recently, Donella completed a survey on human resource practices in family business. Donella has commenced new research on the topic of ‘Leadership and Family Business Sustainability’ in association with Professor George Kailis, University of Notre Dame Business School.

Rona Biernat

Rona Biernat
Freedom Pools & Spas

Rona has been a working director of Freedom Pools and Spas a national company with overseas interests in export and manufacturing, including Freedom Tanks for the past 38 years. Rona worked in the factory and on construction sites in the early years and then sales and administration.

Freedom Pools have been Members of FBA since 2000 and Rona has been a valued committee member for many years.

Paraplegic Benefit Fund

Simon has a Bachelor of Agricultural Science, Diploma of Financial Planning and Advance Diploma of Financial Planning. He is the Executive Director of the Paraplegic Benefit Fund which was founded in 1984 by his Grandfather, Sir George Bedbrook to ease the impact of Spinal Chord Injuries.

The Paraplegic Benefit Fund is a not for profit charity run by the Bedbrook Family with Simon’s father and uncle actively involved. PBF has over 70,000 members, offices in WA and QLD and is looking forward to the 4th generation becoming involved.

He is also the Director of Bedbrook Financial Services which provides Investment and Retirement Planning advice to a small group of select clients.

Paul Galvin
Galvin Engineering, PumpEng, Keto Pumps

Paul has a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree and a Diploma from the Australian Institute of Company Directors. He is an Owner and Director of various companies including Galvin Engineering, and sits on the P&C Galvin and J&G Galvin Family Councils. Paul joined the family business in 1985 after cutting his teeth in the Mining Industry.

Galvin Engineering was established by Paul’s Grandfather in 1933 to manufacture commercial plumbing products and machined castings. The company has evolved to become a global manufacturer with sales branches in all major states of Australia. He and his brother Chris are now the sole Owners and Directors.

Paul and his wife Christine have 3 adult sons whom will one day become 4th generation custodians of the family business. Consequently they have benefited greatly from their involvement with FBA and wish to help spread the word.

Mauri Mucciacciaro is a Partner in the Grant Thornton Perth office’s Privately Held Business team.

He has over 20 years experience in family business consulting, business and private taxation, advisory services and financial management. He also advises a number of clients in relation to their company secretarial requirements.

Mauri is a Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and of the Taxation Institute of Australia. Mauri’s vast experience has required him to servce clients throughout Western Australia and internationally.

Robert has spent most of his life building up Compu-Stor, part of the Manford Group. Founded in 1987 by Robert’s father Peter Manford, Compu-Stor has remained a robust family business. Peter, Robert & his brother Jeremy are all actively involved Directors of the Company.

Robert is currently the State Manager & Director of the Perth Head Office, which remains one of the leading and most well-known document storage facilities in WA. Delving into the 21st Century, Compu-Stor, under the leadership of Robert & his team, are expanding into the growing market of scanning and imaging technologies.

Understanding the diversity of each customer, Robert offers a specifically tailored solution for all management needs. Through the coaching & guidance of the FBA, Robert hopes to share his expertise in business & records management with other committee members, as well as achieve shared FBA goals.

Michelle Natta is an internationally experienced executive from a career in export development, management and business development in manufacturing, media, and professionals services.

Michelle has developed marketing and business development campaigns, with a focus in Australian and overseas markets. In these roles, Michelle has had responsibility for stakeholder management, marketing, sales, events and financial management.

Michelle’s skills include branding, business development, strategy, risk, stakeholder management, marketing/communications, advertising, digital media, events and sales.
