  • Grossing generations: the evolution of family enterprise
  • Family Enterprise challenges and opportunities (part 1) – strategy and governance
  • Family Enterprise challenges and opportunities (part 2) – succession and entrepreneurial renewal

The course is delivered over 8 weeks with an additional 12 days to complete the final assessment piece.

Throughout the course you will be challenged to rethink your views on family business advising through the expertise of your facilitators and the sharing of experiences and learnings by your peers.

You will demonstrate your increased knowledge and expertise through practical assessment tasks designed to further develop your skills in applying tools which will add value to your practice.

Speakers

Dr. Chris Graves PhD CA

Chris Graves is a Chartered Accountant, Co-Founder and Co-Director of the University of Adelaide’s Family Business Education and Research Group [FBERG]. Chris completed his PhD at the University of Adelaide, which investigated the influence of the family system on family business strategy and performance. His PhD research received an honourable mention award from the Family Firm Institute (FFI), based in the USA. He is currently undertaking a Graduate Diploma in Family Therapy as part of his work with the family business sector.

Dr Francesco (Frank) Barbera

Frank Barbera is a Senior Lecturer and Co-Director of the Family Business Education & Research Group at the Adelaide Business School. His research interests encompass a wide range of issues applied to family business, entrepreneurship, small business management, and family business education. In 2014 Frank received his Ph.D. in Economics from Bond University while working at the Australian Centre for Family Business. Frank’s expertise in the family business field also includes being the former Director of the Family Enterprise Centre at Stetson University in Florida, USA, and an award winning member of the Editorial Board for the Family Business Review.

 Conversationalist: Dominic Pelligana

Dominic Pelligana is a KPMG Enterprise Partner and works exclusively with large private and family owned business clients from a diverse range of industries. Dominic’s extensive experience in tax and advisory enables him to understand the unique challenges faced by his clients.

Dominic brings an informed and practical perspective, given his role as a client service Partner, Managing Partner of KPMG Enterprise in Victoria and numerous board roles for family and non-family businesses.   

Dominic is actively involved with Family Business Australia (FBA) and has lead KPMG’s Family Business Practice since July 2005, which has included presenting at numerous FBA education events, conferences and writing thought leadership.
